Lynn Derkitt
Lynn Derkitt (nee Hollinger) is
co-owner of Steppin' On Up Dance & Twirl Inc., director of Twirlin'
On Up Regina Inc., Soul Steppers dance troupe and an elementary school
teacher. She attended the University of Regina and Universite Laval.
She has a Bachelor of Education in French and a Bachelor of Arts.
She began baton twirling and dancing at the age of seven in a
recreational program. At ten years of age, she started attending
competitive classes at Martin School of Dancing and Baton Twirling. She
studied baton twirling, jazz, ballet, tap, musical theatre and
acrobatics. As a member of the Sundown Optimist Buffalo Gals, she
competed in the individual and group categories. She really enjoyed the
team routines. From 1987 to 1991, as part of the Sundown Optimist
Buffalo Gals World Team, she represented Saskatchewan at five Canadian
Championships and went on to represent Canada at five World
Championships. The highlight of her career was winning the World gold
medal in the team category in Padova, Italy (1991). In 1996, she was
inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame - Team category.
Lynn has successfully completed her C.D.T.A. Associate
Membership - Stage Division exam. She currently holds her level II
Canadian Baton Twirling Federation coaching certification and her level
I Gymnastics coaching certification. She is also a Canadian Baton
Twirling Federation judge and badge adjudicator/course conductor. She
has taught or held baton twirling clinics in such places as Montreal,
Saskatoon, Assiniboia and Regina.

Gwen Ash
Gwen Ash (nee Morgan) is co-owner
of Steppin’ On Up Dance & Twirl Inc. She is a stay-at-home mom to
her 3 young children and enjoys teaching dance in the evenings.
She began her dance training at the age of 5 at Martin
School of Dance & Baton Twirling. She studied C.D.T.A. Tap,
C.D.T.A. Jazz and R.A.D. Ballet. She was also a member of the
Martinettes Tap & Jazz groups and successfully competed at many
competitions throughout Saskatchewan. At the age of 14 she decided to
focus on ballet and continued her R.A.D. training at Ritenburg Dance
Studio. During and after graduating high school Gwen was the
choreographer for the F.W. Johnson Collegiate Drama Department.
Gwen has successfully completed her C.D.T.A. Associate
Membership - Stage Division exam.

Teachers
Gina Aschenbrener
Gina is a qualified choreographer
and instructor. She also has over 28 years of dancing
experience and well over 16 years teaching experience. She is a Member
of the
Canadian Dance Teachers Association, Saskatchewan Branch, Stage
Division.
Mrs. Aschenbrener has performed
in various shows in Regina with
Stages Modeling Agency, Galleria Mall and Lyric Light Opera. Gina
constantly upgrades her teaching and
dancing knowledge by attending various workshops every year. In the
past, she
has attended dancing conventions (teacher's courses) in Montana, USA
and
Calgary, AB and in Vancouver, BC.
In the past, Gina has taught at Pense Danstastics for numerous years and Saskatchewan Express Dance Studio. Gina also took pride in running her own dance studio in Regina for over 4 years. This is Gina's second year at Steppin On Up and she looks forward to another exciting year.
Mrs. Aschenbrener has adjudicated
numerous dance competitions
throughout Saskatchewan and Ontario.
She also operates and directs The Pulse Dance Competition in
Regina.
Gina and her husband own and operate Tranquil Sense, a bath and body product store. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
Carli Brundige
Carli
Brundige began her dance training at the age of four at Myers Dance
Center and
later continued her training until the age of 18 at Class Act
Performing Arts
Studios. She has training in the areas of tap, jazz, ballet, modern and
hip
hop. She has completed her Advanced 1 RAD ballet exam as well as her
CDTA
Intermediate jazz and Elementary tap exams.
Carli was a member of the
Salsations dance group as well as the Junior and Senior Do It With
Class Dance
Companies. Throughout her dance training she competed and attended many
workshops throughout Canada.
Carli has performed at Saskatchewan Roughrider
games, Telemiracle and with the Regina Symphony Orchestra. While
attending
Sheldon Williams Collegiate, she choreographed and performed in the
school’s
annual Poco Loco dance show. Carli is currently entering her third year
at the
University of Regina in the Faculty of Business Administration.

Brittany Dobranski
Dance has been a big part of Brittany’s life. She has been dancing for 11 years with Steppin’ On Up, nine of which were competitive dance. She has training in jazz, ballet, hip hop, musical theatre and tap. She has been a member of the award winning Soul Steppers dance troupe since day one. She has also assisted in different classes . Brittany is thrilled to be in her second year of teaching at Steppin’ On Up. Brittany is also a proud member of the 2008 CKRM Saskatchewan Roughriders Cheerleading Team.
Alyssa Wanner
Alyssa was born in Regina and began baton
twirling at the age of five at Martin School of Dance. She twirled for
eight
years with the Sundown Optimist Buffalo Gals. During that time, she
traveled
all over Canada competing in group and individual events. She
participated in
six Provincial competitions, three Western Canadian Championships and
five
National Championships, capturing titles at many of these events.
Alyssa holds
her level 2 Canadian Baton Twirling Federation coaching certificate.
She is
also a certified Skills Development Program adjudicator.
She began her jazz and
ballet studies at age six. For 11 years, Alyssa danced competitively in
jazz
and ballet, participating in numerous competitions. She has completed
her Royal
Academy of Dancing Pre-Primary through to her Intermediate Foundation
Major
examination. She also completed a number of CDTA and ADAPT jazz
examinations.
For three years, Alyssa danced in the Alberta Ballet’s “Nutcracker”.
Alyssa is currently
enrolled at the University of Regina working toward a Bachelor in
Kinesiology
and a business diploma.
Erin Schroh
Erin began dancing at the age of 2. Throughout the years she continued her dance training in jazz, tap, ballet and musical theatre. During this time, she competed in both individual and group categories throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta, Montana and North Dakota. Erin also completed CDTA examinations, attaining a Grade 3 certification in tap and an Intermediate certification in jazz.
Erin’s love for dancing soon developed into an interest in teaching. She administered the dance program and instructed for the Twin Lakes Community Association for three years. In 2004, she instructed classes for our studio before moving to Saskatoon for school where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the Univesity of Saskatchewan. She is very excited to back on the faculty at Steppin' On Up Dance & Twirl.
